Animal Hats are Everywhere This Season!
When our buying team traveled to Los Angeles in October to buy for winter, one particular hat caught their eye. Behold: The Animal Hat. This trend is in essence a plush stuffed animal that you can wear on your head. Some of the hats have gloves attached that actually look like paws. Adorable, right? Well this cutesy trend didn’t start out that way. Lets look at how the Animal Hat began.
Innovative designer Mason Martin Margiela created this 100% polyester headdress with a ridiculous price tag to match. This hood goes for $4450 and is available at ssense.com.
Next up is the Animal Hat made of… you guessed it! Hair. Japanese Designer Nagi Noda created an entire line of animal hats made completely out of hair.
British mega-brand Topshop showed their fall Unique line with headpieces ranging from antlers, to bunny ears. High fashion for sure, but not so great for every day wear. Especially because they average at about $800!
The concept of animal inspired headwear traveled down from the runways into brands like Spirit Headwear. This company sells plush animal hats with the tag line, “what’s your spirit animal?” Worn by celebrities like Ke$ha, this more mainstream version of the hat was a hit. The hat above retails for $129, which is a lot to spend on a hat that’s basically a stuffed animal…
Luckily on the streets of the San Pedro district we found the perfect Animal hat with the perfect price tag! For a hat with gloves you can take one home for $28! (With out gloves is $16)

Also, my favorite fashion blogger fashiontoast picked up the EXACT same hat in Los Angeles and has been rocking it all over her blog!
This hat is for sale on the Glik’s website and at a store near you!
