Art Meets Art to Show Love
Spring is a surely the season of inspiration. New growth and life abounds, surrounding us with excitement for the days that lie ahead. Summer is nearly within our grasp, and happy celebrations (Graduations! Weddings! Vacations!) fill our calendars. While looking forward to changes in the future, I recently had a beautiful moment reflecting on the past with a fellow San Francisco creator.
Silvi Alcivar is a local poet who (most likely) hasn’t met you yet, but within three minutes she will write an original poem all about who or what you love. Silvi is incredibly talented and immensely personal. She provides various services, both in-person and through mail, where she quickly hammers away at her red royal typerwriter until the perfect poem is *rapidly* completed. It is truly a unique, heartwarming, utterly San Francisco experience to have a poem written by Silvi. I, personally, own a few of her poems and have given out a handful as gifts. Silvi’s poems become little treasures in our lives, certainly ones to hold on forever.
As I’ve often mentioned on this blog, the most wonderful things about creating jewelry is watching it impact others. Whether one of my pieces is purchased as a gift for a loved one or a treat for yourself, seeing it find a perfect home fills my heart with pride and joy. When Silvi decided to purchase a special gift for her sister’s graduation from Boston University this spring, I was absolutely honored that she chose a CMD necklace. To further cement the personal touch of this gift, Silvi wrote an incredible poem to compliment the jewelry, which honored their mother who passed away shortly before her sister’s ceremony.
To all those experiencing transitional growth this spring, especially new grads, I wish you strength, confidence and a journey full of adventure. For those looking to celebrate a loved one’s milestone achievements, swing through CMD for suggestions on our most universal pieces, and be sure to connect with Silvi Alcivar’s personal poetry here (and perhaps try pairing them together for the supremely personal experience).
