American Design at its Finest

My recent experience with Dwell on Design was gratifying for many reasons, largely in part due to the caliber of the designers – across multiple mediums –  that surrounded me. A design fanatic at heart, I couldn’t wait to share with you a few of the incredibly talented designers that blew me away at Dwell on Design 2013.

Above is an image of ceramic wall tiles by HAAND, handcrafted in North Carolina. These tiles are modern geometric statement pieces, seemingly inspired by geodes.  They were absolutely remarkable up close. I could envision these unique tiles against a rich, slate colored accent wall.  Stunning!

Next is an “inside the box” table by Holmes Design Gallery based in Sherman Oaks, California. The gorgeous metal details juxtaposed against the vibrant colors of the wood were captivating. I can picture this piece looking stunning in many different types of spaces (specifically – my new studio!)

The final image is John Ford’s arm-and-dining chair hybrid. This industrial design company located in Alhambra, California creates clean, modern, innovative furniture that makes me swoon.  The simple lines and gorgeous palette of these chairs makes them truly a work of art.  I was loving this industrial designer’s unique and well executed work.
